    ATTACKS
    DEFENCES
    -Ants advance to surround three sides of the plantation. -Moat and the river create barrier thwarting the ants’ passage. Men stationed at regular intervals.
    -Ants pile into the moat creating a living bridge. They begin this maneuver on a narrow front, but expand the attack. -Defenders increase the flow of water into ditch. They throw clods of earth and spray petrol to repel enemy.
    Ants use leaves to create bridge. -Water level raised and lowered to wash away debris and ants.
    -Ants Cross outer moat when weir fails. -Defenders retreat behind inner moat filled with petrol.
    -Ants fill inner moat with leaves and twigs. -Petrol is lit on fire and ants are incinerated.
    -Ants fill inner moat with leaves and twigs again.-Ditch is lit on fire again. Petrol is running low. Leiningen decides to flood plantation
    -Ants attack Leiningen on way to and back from weir. -Leiningen is successful and plantation is flooded.
